課程概述 |
Overview: Performing intriguing Ph.D. thesis research, conducting co-lab research projects, operating and maintaining instrumental systems, literature search, collecting data, analyzing data, preparing research reports, presenting research results, instructing entry-level students, and writing Ph.D. thesis.
The course is designed for the Ph.D. students to fully aware of the most up-to-date development in the fields of nanomaterials and surface characterization on theory, on instrument design, on analytical skill, on new analysis methodology, and on novel analytical research results.
Students taking this course are expected to conduct a rigorous, independent research project of his/her own for publication in respectful international journals. He/she should be aware of the novel development in nanomaterials/surface analysis that is related to his/her research project. Students will learn to develop research ideas, to conduct experiments to test the ideas, to organize based on chemical sense the data collected, to analyze the data collected so as to extract important chemical knowledge, to write papers about the research results, to attend professional conferences, and to present his/her research results in professional conferences. In addition, Ph.D. students should develop co-lab and teaching skills by getting involved in co-lab projects and by instructing entry-level students to conduct research.

課程目標 |
This course provides students a laboratory research environment to help them to integrate knowledge and techniques learned from attending lower-level classes and from conducting literature search about the chemical theory, synthesis/characterization principles, and practical experimental techniques such that they gain skills, capability and competence on performing experiments of some intriguing chemistry topics and on writing scientific papers that lead to publication in internationally renown journals. In particular, students taking the course are expected to successfully conduct a Ph.D. research by developing research ideas, designing and carrying out experiments, organizing and analyzing the experimental data, extracting essential chemical information from the data, presenting the research results, and completing writing a Ph.D. thesis, and to develop co-lab and teaching skills. |
